I was arrested last year in June for failure to appear in Jefferson county ky . I paid a lawyer from there to go to court for me on traffic tickets from 2018. He went to court and judge issued arrest warrant for failure to appear. Never heard back from that lawyer. I get arrested for that warrant when I was at my storage unit in June of 2021 . Went to jail wasn’t there 3 hours had little over $1700 in my wallet. They put it on commissary. My bond was $250 +$25 prossesing fee. On my paperwork they never give me a court date. They give me a number and told me I had to call them and set court date up . They give me the wrong number so I got the right number and called . Lady told me that I give her my name and number and address and they would get back to me with court date. They never got back with me . I go to get my money that was on commissary and I had to wait 2 weeks and I get a check for a little over $900 . That doesn’t add up $275 from $1700 ? They have no explanation. Then I’m fishing the other night and cop comes by arrest me again for failure to appear on same charges in Jefferson county. Took me to jail cost me $500 to bond out . Now they get me a court date in Jefferson county. Sheriff that arrested me told me if I have paperwork that shows they didn’t give me a court date the first time I was arrested and released and bein arrested again for same charges I could sue them. I’m extremely mad about this . Money that I don’t have to just give away. My girlfriend of 30 plus years and I have custody of 2 of our grandkids and raising them and trying to find a place to live is not easy . I would just like to get my money back at least . It makes me look like a criminal when your girlfriend has to leave work to come bail me out . Then you walk into the store she works at and everyone is looking and whispering about you .
A criminal defense lawyer is a lawyer (mostly barristers) specializing in the defense of individuals and companies charged with criminal activity. Some criminal defense lawyers are privately retained, while others are employed by the various jurisdictions with criminal courts for appointment to represent indigent persons; the latter are generally called public defenders. The terminology is imprecise because each jurisdiction may have different practices with various levels of input from state and federal law or consent decrees. Some jurisdictions use a rotating system of appointments with judges appointing a private practice attorney or firm for each case. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_defense_lawyer
