How to deal with this criminal charge - charged for shoplifting at Wallmart

Location: Waterloo  |  Law type: Criminal defense attorney

I was at Walmart a few weeks ago September 28th i was trying on clothes and i started to get light headed. So i left the dressing room and was just walking around. I got really cold and i was going to buy this sweatshirt so i put it on over my clothes. I was just walking around trying to stay calm because it was an start of a panic attack. I walked in subway which is in Walmart and was going to sit down but i was getting dizzy and thought fresh air would help.

I was walking to the front doors and got stopped by 2 males and they asked me if that was my sweatshirt and i took it off and explained what was going on but they wouldn't listen to me. They took me to a office and there was a manager there also. I told her i needed a bathroom. She took me there and i went to the last stall and got sick and was lying on the floor. The cops came and were nice in the beginning and then paramedics came and they were ok for a few minutes and the cops said i was shoplifting and the paramedics told me to get up because the situation isn't going away. They were laughing at me. I tried to explain i wasn't lying i have a history of panic attacks. I was so humiliated. They took me to the ambulance and i got in it and we took off. I told the 1 paramedics i wanted to go to Allen hospital and he said no your going to Sartori hospital he wouldn't ket me go to Allen. We got to Sartori and the paramedics told the nurse i had been shoplifting and got nervous and was having a anxiety attack and the nurse called my friend to come there and the nurse told my friend i had been shoplifting.

They gave me a shot to relax me. They released me about an hour later. B4 i got out of the ambulance there was a cop in there. He wanted my number so i gave it to him and he said he would call me on the 29th the next day. He never did. He called about a week later and left a message on my voicemail. I never returned his call. Now i have a warrant out for me 5th degree theft.  I don't know what is the best way to go about all this. I'm scared. I don't believe i should be charged. I've been at Allen 2-3 times for panic attacks and again just a week ago. I'm on medicine for it. They would not believe me at all. I'm not a criminal. I need help and advice on what to do. Thank  you..

A criminal defense lawyer is a lawyer (mostly barristers) specializing in the defense of individuals and companies charged with criminal activity. Some criminal defense lawyers are privately retained, while others are employed by the various jurisdictions with criminal courts for appointment to represent indigent persons; the latter are generally called public defenders. The terminology is imprecise because each jurisdiction may have different practices with various levels of input from state and federal law or consent decrees. Some jurisdictions use a rotating system of appointments with judges appointing a private practice attorney or firm for each case. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_defense_lawyer
