Father Voluntary Give up Parental Rights in Iowa

My son has asked the mother of one of his children, if he can give up his parental rights and have all child support, past and future, forgiven. He recently was released from prison for assaulting the mother of the child in question and has an order of protection in place for her and the child. The child was present during the assault. I was sent a judgement that discussed the findings of a contested removal of father's rights, Gerling (2018). I am looking for information of application of Iowa Code Section 600 A.8 when the termination is not contested. Thank you.
