I was charged in 2011 for unlawful neglect to a child or elderly person. I was sentenced to 3 yrs probation w/ 4 yrs suspension.
What happened for me to catch this charge was for popping my son in his mouth for calling me a "F****** B**** at the age of 9yrs old. I didn't know that I busted his lip off his tooth. Well while my son was at school his teacher noticed it and asked him how he got the scratch on his lip. My son told his teacher that it's from me slapping him in the mouth. So of course by law the teacher had to report it to the authorities. Child protective services never even got involved just goose creek police department. When I was told there was an arrest warrant for me, I turned myself in the next day. I also have another charge that I need to have expunged for prostitution. I went with a friend of mine to show up and dance at a bachelor' party. When we got there we noticed that that there was only one person in a hotel room. The guy tells us that everyone else went outside to smoke. There was a few guys standing outside. While we were talking to this guy all I did was take my shirt off. My bra was still on. I never once touched this person in any sexual way in exchange for money.
When I went to court for my son's incident, I was incarcerated in berkeley county detention center on a bench warrant for the prostitution charge.
The reason I am needing these expunged is that I'm currently trying to get into an apartment and some of the tenant screenings are coming back being denied. The charge with my son- causing harm to another person's body. The prostitution of course a sexual charge. I have turned in 3 applications and all 3 have been denied for same reasons. If your office could please let me know what I can do or at least point me in the direction to someone who can help me out with this matter I would greatly appreciate it.
A criminal defense lawyer is a lawyer (mostly barristers) specializing in the defense of individuals and companies charged with criminal activity. Some criminal defense lawyers are privately retained, while others are employed by the various jurisdictions with criminal courts for appointment to represent indigent persons; the latter are generally called public defenders. The terminology is imprecise because each jurisdiction may have different practices with various levels of input from state and federal law or consent decrees. Some jurisdictions use a rotating system of appointments with judges appointing a private practice attorney or firm for each case. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_defense_lawyer
